Players start the game with $10 and 3 cards. You then draft betting tiles starting with the first player. The last player takes 2 tiles then you go in reverse so the 1st player takes their 2nd tile last. Each mascot has 3 tiles stacked on top of each other, the top bet pays out the most and the bottom the least. You can also flip the tile to the risky side which pays out more if that mascot wins but less for 2nd or 3rd.
There are also side bets that change from race to race. They ask a question like will a mascot get disqualified this race. You can choose the yes or no tile. The risky side of these can make you lose money, but they do have high payouts. The tiles are free to take and the payouts vary depending on where the mascot finishes.
Players add 1 card to the randomly chosen race deck to make it up to 18 cards. These are shuffled up and the race begins. Each card affects the racers in different ways. They can move forwards, backwards, fall down, swerve and recover. When knocked down the mascot is crawling so any future cards only move them one space until they recover and stand up. Racers can be disqualified by swerving off the track, get knocked down and then made to fall down or knocked into again. Or when you get through the 18 cards the race deck is shuffled and the end of the track is shortened by folding it over. Any mascot in the folded section is disqualified. and the order they cross the line will determine their standings. Money is paid out depending on the results.
